Showcasing Japanese art with elegance in Bonhams’ catalogue.

The Japanese Art Catalogue presents an extraordinary collection of netsuke, inro, ceramics, and metalwork from the Meiji period that Bonhams planned to feature in their auction. My goal was to highlight the cultural richness and historical significance of Japanese art in a way that would attract both collectors and art enthusiasts. The challenge was to maintain a balance between the visual elements and the historical context of the presented works without overwhelming the pages, ensuring the integration of high-quality images with precise descriptions in a cohesive and readable manner.

The project focused on conveying the beauty and cultural depth of each exhibit through a clean and spacious layout that enhanced the visual narrative. High-resolution images were strategically placed to draw attention to the details and craftsmanship.

The result was an elegant and functional catalogue that emphasised the uniqueness of each piece. The project was positively received by both the client and the audience, who appreciated the aesthetics, storytelling, and clarity of information. This experience allowed me to combine my graphic design skills with my passion for art, creating a tool that not only informs but also inspires, paying tribute to Japan's cultural heritage.
